Tetra Pak packaging certfied as Easy to use
This week, Tetra Pak announced that several of their packaging solutions have been certified as Easy to use by the Swedish Rheumatism Association.
To comply with EU directives, Tetra Pak has redesigned its packaging with accessibility in mind. According to the EU’s new directive on single-use plastics (SUP), all single-use beverage containers made with plastic must have caps and lids that remain attached to the packaging. The aim is to reduce plastic pollution and promote a circular economy.
“We’re very pleased that all our tested packages with tethered caps have been approved and certified. Tetra Pak has a long-standing commitment to user-friendly design. It’s crucial that all our products are easy and convenient to use, benefiting all consumers—not just those with impaired hand function,” said Elizabeth Anderberg, Communication Director North Europe at Tetra Pak, in the press release.
Stina Nordström, Secretary General of the Swedish Rheumatism Association, commented:“Our work with the Easy to use tests highlight how important it is to get things right from the start. With this approach, many products could become more accessible and usable for a wider audience. A large and growing group in society—not just those with rheumatic conditions—struggle with hard-to-open packaging. We are very positive about companies like Tetra Pak making efforts to develop user-friendly products, and we certainly hope to see more of them.”
